Many of us are familiar with the benefits associated with exercise. It helps us to stay in shape, increases energy levels, and can even improve our mental health. However, a recent study has found that combining sauna sessions with exercise could provide an even greater benefit than just exercising alone. Read on to find out more about this exciting discovery!
According to the study, which was published by researchers at the University of Eastern Finland and published in the European Journal of Preventive Cardiology, regular sauna use combined with moderate-intensity exercise is linked to a lower risk of cardiovascular disease (CVD) compared to those who only participated in moderate-intensity exercise. The study followed 2,300 middle-aged men over a 20-year period and monitored their activities as well as their CVD risk factors.
The findings showed that those who participated in both sauna sessions and exercise had a 27% lower risk of CVD compared to those who only exercised. The research team believes that this could be due to the combination of physical activity and heat exposure potentially providing a more comprehensive effect on cardiovascular health than either one alone.
In addition, it was also found that regular sauna use was associated with lower blood pressure readings and improved lipid profiles (blood fat levels). This further strengthens the idea that combining sauna sessions and exercise could be beneficial for better overall cardiovascular health.
Although more research needs to be done in order to fully understand why combining sauna sessions with exercise is so beneficial for heart health, this new finding is encouraging news for gym members everywhere! Not only does it give us another reason to hit the gym regularly but it also shows us how important it is to take time out for relaxation too - something we all need every once in awhile! So if you're looking for ways to boost your cardiovascular health, why not try adding some sauna time into your routine? It just might help you achieve your fitness goals!
